Sport Premium Grant

Background

Sports Premium Funding has been allocated to all Primary Schools to achieve self-sustaining improvements in the quality of P.E and sport in schools. Sports funding is allocated based on the number of pupils within school. With this funding we aim to provide the following:

  • Enhance the participation of all pupils in regular physical activity.

  • Broaden experience of a range of sports and activities offered to pupils.

  • Develop the confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport.

  • Increase participation in competitive sport.

Sports Premium Funding 2016/17:-

It is expected that schools will see an improvement against the following 5 key indicators:

1.The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity – kick-starting healthy active lifestyles.

2.The profile of PE and sport being raised across the school as a tool for whole school improvement.

3.Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport.

4.Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils.

5.Increased participation in competitive sport.

Subscription to Points Learning Network. This funding will provide the school with the support of external services, such as specialist coaches, competitions and support with physical education within school.

Children will engage in PE sessions run by specialist coaches to prepare them for the upcoming competitions. They will develop their physical skills and develop important attributes, such as sportsmanship and teamwork.

 

 

 

 

CPD for all staff through specialist sports coaching and staff running sessions. We have newly appointed staff and staff that require refresher CPD sessions to support the teaching of the current PE schemes in school. Alongside our REAL PE scheme, we have bought a new PE scheme called REAL Gym to support the teaching of gymnastics, enabling the children to develop their agility, balance and co-ordination. All staff will need training in this scheme.

All staff members who teach PE will have the confidence to lead and deliver sessions following our three schemes in school: REAL PE, REAL Gym and I-moves. As a result, children will participate in enriching and engaging PE lessons.

 

 

 

Sports equipment for after school clubs, lunchtime activities and physical education lessons.

Staff will be able to appropriately deliver the PE schemes of work within school. Children will develop a range of skills and become confident with using different apparatus.

A broad range of extracurricular sports clubs provided by the school- after school clubs.

The children will develop good sportsmanship and develop their resilience and strive to try their best. They will also increase their confidence with sports and gain good PE skill acquisition.

 

 

 

The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity- Change4Life Clubs and Young Leaders.

Part of the Points Learning Subscription

The children that tend to be inactive in sport activities will take part in our Change4Life clubs. This engagement with sport will allow them to develop their sportsmanship, teamwork, PE skills and leadership.

 

Transport to and from competitions

This will benefit pupils attending the competitions.

 

A PE scheme called REAL Gym to support the teaching of gymnastics, enabling the children to develop their agility, balance and co-ordination.  

Training in these schemes for staff members.

All staff members will become confident to teach and lead this new scheme of work. It will allow us to teach children another aspect of PE within the curriculum. Engagement in this gymnastics scheme will allow children to develop their agility, balance and co-ordination.

Swimming Lessons- We plan to take the Year 2 children for swimming lessons at Westfield School later in the year. This will enhance the children’s confidence in water before KS2 when they will continue their swimming lessons.

This will benefit Year 2 children in particular. The children will become more confident in water and they will become more knowledgeable around water safety. They will develop important skills, such as floating and it will provide a good starting point for when they continue their swimming lessons within KS2.

 

Children will be safe when using the equipment within school.
