Curriculum

Learning is not a single process; it consists of mastering skills, acquiring knowledge, understanding ideas and developing good attitudes.

Each half term the children are immersed in a different topic. The topic provides opportunities for children to explore different parts of the curriculum through an exciting and immersive subject. This means that often some areas of the curriculum may not be covered each half term, allowing children the opportunity to explore specific areas in greater depth. Every half term a copy of your child's topic web will be published on the website, detailing what curriculum areas they will be covering and how you can help at home.

Please have a look at each curriculum page to learn more about each subject.

Assessment

Assessment of a child’s attainment is of a continuous nature within the classroom context. More formal assessments take place at the end of Key Stage 1, just prior to the move to the Juniors. These take the form of teacher assessments, backed up with National Tests in Reading, Writing and Maths. Parents are informed of the results of these assessments with their reports, during July of that year.
