SMSC Mission Statement

At our school the children and their learning are at the very heart of every decision made. We aim to develop learners who are passionate, take ownership of their learning and are proud of their achievements.  We recognise that the personal development of pupils spiritually, morally, socially and culturally plays a significant part in their ability to learn and achieve. At our school we aim to help all individuals reach their full potential and we are committed to enabling children to become healthy, independent and responsible members of society.

Nursery and Reception children follow the EYFS curriculum covering SMSC through personal, social and emotional development, one of the prime areas of learning.

At our school we hold regular Beighton Bee meetings. Each class has representatives to pass on their class messages and ideas for the school. Other strands of SMSC are covered through physical development, understanding of the world and communication and language.

Children are taught how to look after themselves, emphasising the caring aspects in human relationships and the way in which humans and animals look after their young.

Westfield Family of Schools

We are part of Westfield Family of Schools and our staff members meet regularly with the other schools within our family to discuss a range of issues and things that we can all work together on. This has included our food-bank drive, awareness days and singing festivals. To visit our Family of Schools website, please click on the link below.

Getting on and Falling Out

Our SEAL theme for Autumn 2 is 'Getting on and Falling out' where we will focus on working with others and learning how to be a good friend. As a school we will also be thinking about Anti Bullying week which takes place from the 14th-18th November 2016.  Here is a link for more information about Anti-Bulling week.
